Speaking Tree @ Candice Madey NY
July 8 – August 13, 2021
"Kauyumari" is a new acrylic on canvas painting, revealing visions and encounters with the spirit of the blue deer and the fire-flower, now at Speaking Tree, an exhibition at Candice Madey Gallery, NY. This and another painting will be exhibited together with works from Maria Thereza Alves, Mary Carlson, Beatriz Cortez, Rafa Esparza, Candice Lin, Wardell Milan,Emily Mae Smith, Delfina Muñoz de Toro, Paressa Pourian.
CANDICE MADEY is pleased to announce Speaking Tree, an exhibition that explores the depths of plant life and plant intelligence independent of human metaphor. The exhibition is inspired by conversations with the artists, each of whom see and direct attention to plant vitality, introducing alternative perspectives of history and politics as witnessed through plant experience, migration, and mutation; further advocating for a more attentive and respectful view of biological diversity and the environment.
Artists in Speaking Tree place plant life at the center of their work and encourage a reevaluation of the ethics, politics, and philosophy of vegetal life.
The gallery is open to the public Tuesday to Friday, 11am to 6pm.
